Coffee

December 28th, 2006 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox

Just bored here while the rest of the family is napping after the long drive.   My sister next to me was trying to drink a cup of coffee but spat it back out after the first sip.   Then she goes again to try and drink it, only to spit it back out not much later.

I don’t know why she bothers.   Coffee is  so disgusting.   It’s this brown, murky substance that, had it been anywhere else besides a cup that said “Drink”, no one would consider drinking.   It doesn’t taste or smell good, and it certainly doesn’t look appealing.   People try to deny this, but notice that people who drink it often have it mixed heavily with sugar or cream -  to hide the fact that it’s so nasty.

Some people claim that they need the coffee to wake up; they need the caffeine.   So wait, let me get this straight.   They drink the coffee for the caffeine - which makes them high and wide awake.   Wouldn’t that be the same as taking drugs? So drinking coffee is like taking drugs - makes you high and let’s you “wake up” (although after it wears off, you feel dead-tired).   Why not just take a couple of caffeine pills every morning…   much cheaper too.

Bleh - you won’t ever find me drinking coffee! :p

Off for the Winter…

December 27th, 2006 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox

Winter break now obviously - can’t stay home the whole two weeks. :-/   I’m going to be off again - will probably be back Tuesday or Wednesday next week.   I have no clue where I’m going - just another random road trip.   Hopefully not as boring as the last.

Castle Blood Released!!!

December 27th, 2006 | Posted by pftq in pq News

After almost ditching the project completely (been very busy lately), I’ve finally released the map for Age of Empires III.   The basic map itself was actually finished about a month ago - then everything to do with it just stopped.

Decided to release it before I forget about it again.   Think of it as a late Christmas gift I suppose.

Quick description:

This map is designed for Age of Empires 3 “The Warchiefs” v1.01. Castle Blood is a long requested map by a number of players in the Age of Empires III community. Castle Blood is a common map originally found in Age of Empires II. However, due to obvious differences in the two games, there are a number of changes between this Castle Blood and the old ones, especially as it is unclear as to which Castle Blood this is actually based on (I have never played Castle Blood myself and based this on what others told me). Also due to the mere concept of all-out war, there is bound to be balance issues between civilizations. Only aspects of each civilization which were outrageously powerful were removed or changed. This is more or less simply a response to those who request a “Castle Blood” map for AOE3.

Fort Wars Power Rating

December 25th, 2006 | Posted by pftq in pq News

We’ve finally gotten Elpea’s old Fort Wars ladder working again and made it even better than before!   It counts games and updates ranks automatically just like cuetech and ESO’s power rating.   Like power rating,   Free for All games are not counted.

As we have two solid game versions of Fort Wars (AOE3 and TWC), the ladder has been split, but it should be fairly simple to figure out.   I’ve also added player statistics page and recent games (from past week).

Anyways enjoy! Now you can see how good you actually are! :p

Fort Wars Ladder

It turns out Elpea’s old ladder for Fort Wars has ALWAYS worked.   We were working on an XML version for NOTHING. :( All we needed was to add &sFlags=0 to the address we were using. Argh!

Now splitting it so that we have an expansion and non-expansion version… Would be perfect to release on Christmas XD
