AOE3 Ladder Updates

August 30th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in pq News

Bah, I still can’t believe I bothered to do this.. haven’t done anything related to AOE3 for 6 months. Anyways, the ladder now skips over days without games (when using the Next and Previous buttons). Also available is the Skip to Last or Skip to Latest day with games. Hope someone out there finds it convenient.

pq Visitor Counter Update

August 29th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in pq News

Just another bugfix and some optimzing. I’ve found that the previous highest visitor counts did not update the record times. Timezones were also wrongly added and several redundant lines of code added only to subtract them again. Finally, record times are now timezone independent and do not shift when you change the timezone setting.

For those who are upgrading from 1.05, simply replace the tracker and pqcounter_core files. Rarely will you ever have to replace your settings file when upgrading. However, you will have to add the following line to your settings:

$iplength=4; // length of ip to check: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is 4

Also add $iplength to the list of globals at the top.

I do not remember when I added this; if you already have it in your settings, then ignore this step. :)

Updated Hoisanese Sanctuary Software

August 29th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in pq News

Really this is not my site, nor do I find too much interest in working on it, but the lack of progress made since it has been up is rather astonishing… in a bad way. Hoisanese Sanctuary has literally only been updated once and that was in the summer of 2006. The site, utilizing one of my unlimited subdomains ;) , was set up and rented out to him for a small fee. I know the author personally, and he had asked me for my Easy Page Creator software, which was very basic back then. To my disgust, the site was still using version 1.0 and had not upgraded to use 1.3

Me being the type to keep up to date with everything if possible, went ahead and installed my newer software for him. It’s also a nice chance to see my incredible little script at work. As for the author himself, I am not sure where he went and what he plans for the site, but I will certainly try to get back to him on this. This is simply unacceptable for a “pftq”-standard website. :P

Adobe CS3 Install Solution

August 29th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox

For those who did a bit of searching on their own part and know that an older version of Flash is messing up the Adobe CS3 install…

Even after deleting all instances of Flash on both the harddrive and registry, I was not able to install Adobe so hopefully this solution helps a few people. Please make sure you have done a bit of research yourself first; I recommend reading Components Install Failed at the very least to have some idea of what you need to do.

First off: Do NOT reinstall Adobe CS3 over and over again. Go to the Content CD >… Goodies > Adobe Flash > Flash Player Install

Since the Flash Player is the one messing up, you only need to run Flash to see if you fixed your problem. If you didn’t, you’ll get an error message about an older version of Flash. This takes only a minute, compared to the hour spent installing CS3.

When you’ve made sure you deleted all instances of Flash and still have this problem, go to Run, enter eventvwr, Application… Take a look at the errors. One should be the older version of Flash from before, but you’ll notice other errors as well.

For me, there was another error claiming “Unexpected or missing value…” and ending in “…\Microsoft\Installer\Products\{Random Gibberish}\SourceList”. {RandomGibberish} is what you need to search for in your registry now and remove. You may have to do this multiple times if you have more than one error (I had 2 in addition to the older version of Flash).

After doing this, I ran the Flash install again (from Content disc) and it installed fine. Ran the Adobe CS3 and it installed fine as well.

Selling Camcorder

August 25th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox

I originally bought a Sony SR300 camcorder back in May for use in a school club. Turns out, as we obtained another camcorder just last month, we no longer need this one. It is virtually brand-new condition, only used for a few months, and for those who know me, you can be certain I took excellent care of it.

Those who just happen to need a very nice camcorder (it’s Sony’s top standard def camcorder) or want take advantage of a good deal (selling it near half the price of retail) may want to check it out on eBay here.

You can see the official specs at Sony here. Its original price is $999 and it was only released earlier this year.
