Some improvements made:
- Improved stripping of trailing linebreaks at the end of a post.
- Removed doublespacing in HTML from Outlook due to p tags.
- Fixed special characters (& etc) in the subject causing new topics.
- Emails with subjects the same as existing topics but without "re: " now start a new topic.

If you want emails to updates, you can subscribe to this topic from now on:
https://www.pftq.com/forums/index.php?topic=1579.0

I won't post any more updates here so that I don't end up spamming people who are perfectly happy with their version. Smiley

Hi pftq,

Firstly thanks for keeping this mod alive you have made some awsome improvements so thank you.

I am having a small issue and I wondered if you or the community here could help me. I am fairly new to SMF as it is and generally rusty with cpanel etc. I have installed a new instance of SMF 1.1.12, which is working fine, and I have added your new Mod (after trying the original Post from Email mod), but I am getting a problem in the emails are bouncing back to me.

When I reply to the notification email I get the following response:

You are not allowed to post replies even to your own topics in this board.

But I replied to the email that was sent to me from the forums. Any advice ?

Thanks

Hi I actually remember this issue from another user but thought I had fixed it already.  Quick questions:
- What version of the mod are you using?
- Is the account an admin?
- Are you using the same email address as registered for the SMF forum?

Thanks

Hi PFTQ,

Version - SMF: 1.1.12 Mod: 0.994

Yes I am the forum admin and webmaster, my first problem was that I got an error saying "An invalid email address was given, but then I realised that was because I registered my forum admin account with a admin@domain.com email and had it forwarded so the forums didn't recognise my Gmail account that was sending the mail back. Once I ammended my admin account to point directly to my Gmail address I got the error about permission to post replies.

Hi, can you PM me a temporary admin account to your forum? I'm not sure at this point but I suspect it'll probably be a permissions problem.

It turns out to be the same issue I dealt with earlier.  Basically the Admin cannot post to his own topics if he is not also part of another member group (additional group) that can.  I thought I fixed this but apparently didn't.

You can redownload the mod and just replace the emailpost.php (no reinstall needed).  Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Smiley (and sorry about the random email sent out; replied to the wrong one)

Also, make sure you remember to copy the language strings to your custom theme as mentioned in the readme.  You might notice that the options in Features have no text and you will probably continue to get notice errors in your emails.

I noticed your theme isn't named "default" anymore though so I'm guessing there may have been changes to the language files.  I would just double-check the files mentioned in the readme/install page to be sure and copy-paste as necessary.

Hi - that is the same reason as the language strings mentioned.  Make sure you add to the Modifications file as well as the Post file.

Hiya,

I checked both of those files and they already have your modification in them, but I still don't see those options, and I am def using the default theme.

What can you suggest?

Notice the changes are made to the *.english.php file - I'm guessing you aren't using English on the forums but maybe something like english-utf8 so try copying the changes to there.

Hi PFTQ,

I am still getting that blank area, is that something you can investigate?

Hi as mentioned before it would be a language file issue.

Did you try the fix mentioned before about different variations of the english modifications file?
