Looking for a Better CD Pen

July 3rd, 2009 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox | #

You’d think the hard part about burning CDs or DVDs is getting the software to burn right or the disc to play back.  After spending about just 5 minutes to finish off the DVD and burn it, the part that seems to take the longest is actually labeling the disc.  The darn pen won’t work on the disc even if I just used it less than a minute ago.

Currently, I have 3 Sharpie CD pens on my desk, none of which appear to be working.  They’re of the twin-tip variety (using the fine tip so I can write more on the disc).  I know there’s ink in them because writing with the bold tips work just fine on any surface.  The worst part is the third pen just came from a fresh box, so it hasn’t been overused at all.

I’ll probably go find another brand, but it seems like such a miniscule problem.  Normally, I’d search on Google to find out what’s a better option, but it doesn’t look like there are any reviews on a better pen (too small an issue).  You know all those tutorials about…[More]

Reading Memory

June 27th, 2009 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox | #

First Image of Memory Being Made - I completely mistook the headline for implying that memory can be translated to an image (photo, scan).  For a moment, I thought we’d actually be able to scan our minds soon and save images off of them. :P

Guess that’s a little bit further in the future since they’re just now figuring out what memory in the brain even looks like (not the memory itself but the part of the brain that holds the memory - which isn’t really what the memory looks like but the memory container looks like… kinda like memory cards I guess - ack, confusing terms!).  I guess perhaps in the short term future, we can look forward more on learning to increase our memory or enhance.

Maybe one day we can buy extra proteins to enlarge our memory capabilities! :D (though I wouldn’t want a bigger head as a result of it)

Three Years Past

June 12th, 2009 | Posted by pftq in Stories | #
A freshman boy walks down the school hallway eating a cup of ice cream he got from across the street.  While walking, he suddenly looks up from his ice cream to realize his surroundings look different.  It's the same location with some things altered, perhaps looking older or worn out.  He eventually realizes he has ended up 3 years into the future.
His friends tell him he's crazy.  When the boy tries to use his ice cream as proof, they tell him he just got it from across the street.  Defeated, the boy just accepts his situation for the time being.
His learning is accelerated and he quickly adapts to his new life.  He seems to learn things instantaneously sometimes (such as math) even though he doesn't remember having been good at it before.  One day his friends bug him about the ice cream again and the boy gets irritated.  The boy suddenly shouts, "How could I have gotten the ice cream...[More]
