Three Years Past

June 12th, 2009 | Posted by pftq in Stories | #
A freshman boy walks down the school hallway eating a cup of ice cream he got from across the street.  While walking, he suddenly looks up from his ice cream to realize his surroundings look different.  It's the same location with some things altered, perhaps looking older or worn out.  He eventually realizes he has ended up 3 years into the future.
His friends tell him he's crazy.  When the boy tries to use his ice cream as proof, they tell him he just got it from across the street.  Defeated, the boy just accepts his situation for the time being.
His learning is accelerated and he quickly adapts to his new life.  He seems to learn things instantaneously sometimes (such as math) even though he doesn't remember having been good at it before.  One day his friends bug him about the ice cream again and the boy gets irritated.  The boy suddenly shouts, "How could I have gotten the ice cream...[More]

Moments of Spring

She laughed, and I smiled.  She was one of the few people I could still amuse these days.  I enjoyed making people laugh, making people happy.  I remember the good times my friends and I had, when we used crack up over nothing, often at just ourselves or our mistakes.  That was a few years ago, when at least some of my friends still shared the same classes.  I don't see them often anymore though; our schedules are different and they don't take nearly as many courses.  I haven't laughed wholeheartedly in a very long time.

No one else shared an even remotely similar course schedule.  In most (actually all, now that I think of it) of my classes, I was either one of the few people in my grade or one of the few people not in the same school as rest of the class.  Most other classmates in my school (my friends included) decided to take less courses this year.  Being one of the few that bothered taking more rigorous...[More]

Doing What Counts

January 18th, 2009 | Posted by pftq in Stories | #
Pete wiped his forehead and stepped back.  He had just finished helping an elderly woman pack luggage into her car.

"Thank you so much," the woman said, standing back in amazement.  "You kids are doing so much these days."

"It's no big deal," Pete chuckled, pulling out a sheet of paper from his pocket.  "Really, I should be thanking you instead."

  "What's...[More]

A Day's Lost

January 9th, 2008 | Posted by pftq in Stories | #
"Son! You need to get your grades up!" my mother exclaimed loudly.  She paced across the room and glanced repeatedly back at me, anxious to see my reaction but disappointed at my blank stare.  "You will become a failure! Nobody will give you a job!"

I did not understand; I had almost straight As - perhaps one B.  I opened my mouth to protest, but immediately she thrust her finger into my right eye.

"Son! Why do you have a scar on your cheek? Wash it off!"

  I stared...[More]

Tree Warriors

February 12th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Stories | #
The great and powerful tree stood proud and tall.   The rebels of men shuddered under its might.   For centuries, man has struggled in vain against the growing power of trees, but now, man has gathered enough strength, enough courage, to rid themselves of the trees once and for all!

And so the tree deployed its minions, the grassblades, against the evercoming rebels.   The men roared and screamed at the sight of the seemingly infinite number of enemies before them.   At last, they realized to their horror; they were painfully outnumbered.

But fear not! For the rebels had been well prepared and a secret weapon was at their disposal.   One of the lowly rebels scurried quickly and returned with the long awaited... lawnmower.   And with this lawnmower, the rebels advanced, plowing through the endless fields of grass, charging through flying grassroots and chunks of dirt and mud.

Some Random Story

January 7th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Stories | #
         This is a true story...

So there was a short lil' guy named Bob and this tiny little  kit-cat named Tom.   Tom was hungry one day and Bob didn't have any  water.   Tom begged for food, but Bob said  no so the tiny cat scratched him.   Bob tried to call for help, but accidentally swallowed his hat.

A huge ugly dog named Jack came along, but his real name was Bob.   Bob tried to feed the dog to Tom the lil' cat, but Jackbob tried to scare the cat.   Bob then became angry and Tom got  angry too.   Tom didn't know why he was angry  so he started chasing Bob around, but Bob was angry that Tom was angry because he was angry, so he started chasing Jackbob the dog.

Planet Bob

January 1st, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Stories | #
“Sorry,” I said quickly.  “We’re lost and don’t mean to intrude on your property.”

“No problems at all!” the man exclaimed cheerfully.  “We’re always glad to take in guests and newcomers.  Please, come in!”

Once inside, he took off his hat and bowed rather lowly at us.  It took me a while, but I suddenly realized he was touching his toes.  I was about to ask what he was doing when he quickly stood and put out his hand.

   “My name...[More]
